What a fine day it is in Brussels, Leopold thought to himself. The people are happy and very Catholic; the nation is young and excitable. The war of Ludwig's Folly has created much fear in the young Belgian people, if Belgium were to go to war the fear of the people who fervently follow their great elected monarch and leader of the Belgians would it be absorbed back into France? Leopold decided not to worry about this, there is no need for Belgium to go to war, Leopold decided to set his sights on an area of Africa something not too big, but not too small perhaps with lots of Ivory and Rubber.
These problems will not worry Leopold at the moment though, the British have developed a great system of transportation and free trade in Europe will greatly help the nation states of our great continent; Leopold pondered about forming an agreement in Brussels but decides that it is not needed at this very moment. At this moment of pondering Leopold's bumbling Premier Albert walks in. "My King what are your plans today, shall we form a university? Shall we build railways? Shall we go to Africa?" said Albert. "All in good time Albert, all in good time; first we Belgians must decide what it means to be Belgian. We must decide on official languages; whilst we speak French, the North speaks Dutch and a small amount of our populace speaks German. We must unite and speak these three languages, all law must give each language parity with the others, for our languages are too dissimilar that we can merge them together like the Italians have."
"Merde, je travaille pour le paritie du the langue du Belgiuqe mon rein" speaks Albert.
"For Gods Sake! Albert stop speaking different languages every five seconds, we are united as one" exclaimed Leopold.
"Oui, Jah my King" says Albert.
"Be gone fool! Don't grace my presence until you come back speaking a proper language." screams Leopold.
Albert leaves and Leopold decides to get his pipe and light it and ponder the finer things in life.

Leopold thought to himself,
"The Russians have reformed their aging aristocracy; perhaps it was time that we Belgians became more efficient, we are already the greatest of civil servants. Belgians run foreign diplomacy after all, we can only hope that the latest attempts at European free trade will lead to more Belgian dominance, perhaps we should send a mission to Switzerland to get a piece of the Swiss banking industry; but to be loved by my people I need to become like them. I need to become a Catholic, but my good Protestant heritage is stopping this; the Pope is committing crimes by denying the Italian Kingdom the right to supremacy on the peninsula, it is not for men of god to rule over the common man. The lord wished for priests to be his shepherds to spread the message of god not to rule on such matters as to what a carrot should look like; that is for the Belgians to decide"

What a fine summers eve it is, Leopold thought to himself as he grasped a plum from one of the trees in his garden. As Leopold is chewing on his rather scrumptious plum, his son the Duke of Brabant enters.
"Father can I go to Vienna, I really want to meet the Kaiser apparently he is very fun; he loves bumblebees and he'll teach me German." said Young Leo
"Now look son, there's something I've got to tell you about the Kaiser; he's errr a bit simple. He might be fun now but he has a lot of problems with his body it'll scare you, your much better visiting the young Princess Victoria though she is only a babe she'll be much more interesting than the Kaiser and one day maybe you could wed her." asserted the elder Leopold.
"No Father, I want to play with the Kaiser he's the only one that will understand me. He can teach me about how to make bumblebees more fun, and he can teach me about dumplings." exerted the young Leo.
"Fine I'll arrange for you to spend some time with the Kaiser but I warn you, you'll be extremely bored after a few days and you'll come crying home after the Kaiser has one of his rages." said the Elder Leopold.
"Yipeeeee! I get to meet Ferdinand! Woohoo!" exclaimed the young Leo.

The Congress of Brussels nears but there is discontent in the Belgian cabinet.
"Why are you making me speak that god awful language, we make you King and this how you repay us!" exclaimed a furious Baron Goldsko.
"Ccccalm down Danielle, his majesty is trying to unite our nation, it is better that we contain the proletariat by appeasing them with allowing them to understand our laws" stammered Baron Krondijjk.
"Shut up both of you! This is a matter for the King not for us mere servants of the land; I'm sorry that they have to speak like this my King" said Count Baillis.
"There is no problem Louis, Danielle here is just upset because elections are next year and he thinks that the electorate will be expanded with people being able to understand the literature. I can assure him that the electorate will remain exactly the same for the next five years, men still have to have a qualification in French to pass School, and it is five years until the Dutch element becomes part of the exams system." calmy spoke the King.
"If you insist this is true my King, then I shall leave and attend to a young Flemish girl that I have found" said Baron Goldsko as he left.
"Thank god he is gone" sighed Baron Krondijjk.
"He is an able treasurer Albert, but I've no doubt he was behind the Walloon Post article; my men will have to have a word with him in private." calmly spoke King Leopold " Now be gone I need to celebrate having my son away for a week."

"Daddy, Daddy the Kaiser was mean to me." said young Leo whilst crying
"What did I tell you son, he is an insane person." said Leopold
"and, and *sniffles* he making us pay for the state visit" cried young Leo.
"WHAT! I'll be sending Jean down there to sort this mess out, all we wanted was a meeting with the Kaiser not a full state banquet at our expense, do these Austrians have no concept of tact. We shan't be paying for it, we are hosting a large Congress in Brussels at OUR expense; that's it I've had it up to here with the mess that these Austrians cause." shouted Leopold.
"If that's how they want to be we'll just send them the bill for their Ambassadors numerous wastings no doubt. JEANNNN! GET IN HERE NOW!" shouted Leopold.
"Yes my King, what is it that you require?" said Jean Anthony timidly.
"That bloody buffoon of Kaiser who can barely say his own name, is trying to make US pay for a state visit designed to improve relations. Sort it out NOW! If they expect payment then the costs of hosting the Austrian delegates will be billed to them at twice their normal rate, as well as the rent on their embassy is to be tripled! We won't be having any of this paying for state visits malarkey its just not tactful or good for business!" Shouted a very angry Leopold.
"Yes my King, right away I'll sort this trouble out." said Jean Anthony
